About Us / Our History

Glentress Ambulance Global Assistance Limited was launched in 1992 by Anne Mason and Marion Knox. Both had held senior positions within the Health Service for a number of years, and foresaw the increasing need for private endeavour within the framework of the NHS.

Glentress Ambulance has since grown into a sizeable company, with staff numbers increasing year on year, and a continuing push to increase training levels and overall competence of our staff to highest possible levels.

The most advanced members of staff are now trained through the same processes as NHS staff and continue to update their skills at every opportunity. Practising Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics are constantly being called in to enhance and improve the levels of proficiency needed to deal with the wide variety of work we do.

We have access to a variety of designated aircraft, which are specifically furbished to comfortably accommodate both patients and medical team members. These aircraft can fly throughout Europe and can be used for a number of tasks, including Patient Transfer, Private Hire and Corporate Hospitality.

The company is based in Innerleithen, a small town in the Scottish Borders. This provides an ideal location, affording us equal access to the whole of Scotland and the North of England. It also enables us to use the major airports in this area, without the need for excessive journeys by land.
